House rules

Last updated 13 August 2026

Cuba Libre is a night to dress up and let go. That only works if everyone sticks to a few things. Here they are.

1At the door

  • Minimum age 18, the same as at Villa Thalia itself.
  • Everyone shows a valid passport, ID card or driving licence, however old you look. No ID is no entry.
  • Without a valid ticket you do not get in. Your barcode is scanned once. Door sales are limited and can close early, so buy in advance.
  • Security can ask you to cooperate with a check of your clothing and your bag. Refuse, and you do not get in.
  • Turning up clearly drunk means staying outside. There is plenty waiting for you inside.
  • The door decides. In case of aggression or trouble you stay outside, even with a valid ticket and without a refund.
  • Once you are outside, that is final. There is no re-entry.

Alongside these house rules, the house rules of Villa Thalia apply. Where they differ, the strictest rule counts.

2Dress and appearance

Cuba Libre is a night people dress up for. Come well turned out. If you are in doubt, pick the smarter option.

These do not get in:

  • sportswear and tracksuits;
  • trainers and sneakers;
  • caps and hoods;
  • bum bags and crossbody bags, including the small shoulder bags worn across the chest;
  • flip-flops and workwear.

The door at Villa Thalia enforces this dress code and decides on the spot. Arguing at the door gets you nowhere and only costs you your night.

3What you cannot bring in

  • Drugs in any form. We have zero tolerance. Dealing or possession means removal and handover to the police.
  • Weapons and anything that can serve as a weapon.
  • Your own drinks and your own food.
  • Professional photo and video equipment, unless you have written permission in advance.
  • Spray cans, paint, fireworks and laser pens.
  • Large bags and backpacks. Bum bags and crossbody bags are not allowed either, see the dress code above. A small handbag is fine.

Anything we take off you, you do not get back.

4How we treat each other

Everyone is welcome and everyone goes home in one piece. Discrimination, racism, sexual harassment, groping, threats and violence lead to immediate removal and to a police report where needed.

If you feel uncomfortable or you see something happen, speak to a member of staff or to security. We take it seriously and you do not have to explain why you feel that way.

You follow the instructions of staff, security and the fire warden. That is not negotiable.

5Drinks

We do not serve alcohol to anyone under 18 and not to people who have clearly had too much. Passing a drink to someone who is not allowed one gets both of you removed.

Glassware stays inside. Do not take glass outside or into the smoking area.

6Smoking

No smoking inside, e-cigarettes and vapes included. You can only smoke in the designated spot. Keep it quiet there, people live next door.

7Cloakroom and your belongings

Use the cloakroom. You get a ticket and that ticket is your responsibility. If you lose it or it is unreadable, you get your coat back at the end of the night, once everything else has been collected.

Villa Thalia keeps unclaimed items for two weeks. After that they are gone. Lost something? Check villathalia.nl/lost-items.

Villa Thalia and we are not liable for loss, theft or damage to your belongings. Leave valuables at home.

8Sound and light

Amplified music is played at a level that can damage your hearing. Hearing protection is available at the cloakroom. Strobe lighting and smoke machines are in use.

9Photo and video

Photos and video are taken at the entrance and inside the venue, by us and by Villa Thalia. By coming in you agree that you can appear in them and that those images are published. If you want a specific recording removed, email info@cubalibreparty.com and we will take it down.

There is camera surveillance in and around the venue. What we do with that is set out in the privacy statement.

10Getting home

The venue closes at 05:00. Villa Thalia sits in the middle of the city among homes. Keep it quiet outside, do not leave your bottle on the street and head straight home or to your transport.

Do not drive after drinking. Rotterdam Centraal is within walking distance.

11If you break the rules

Break the rules and you are removed without any right to a refund. In serious cases we file a police report, recover the damage, and you can be refused entry at future editions.

These house rules exist in Dutch and in English. Where the texts differ, the Dutch text prevails.
